Supported Controller Types
lm-sensors (Linux PWM)
Linux PCs and servers — reads temperatures via lm-sensors, controls fans via PWM sysfs nodes (/sys/class/hwmon).
lm-sensors
fancontrol
IPMI / ipmitool (Server BMC)
Servers with IPMI/BMC: Dell iDRAC, HP iLO, Supermicro, generic IPMI. Controls fans via raw IPMI commands.
ipmitool
nbfc-linux (Laptop Fan Control)
Laptops running Linux — uses NoteBook FanControl (nbfc-linux) to read and set fan speeds.
liquidctl (NZXT / Aquacomputer / Kraken)
NZXT Smart Device, Kraken AIO, Aquacomputer Quadro/Octo, HUE 2, and other USB fan/pump controllers.
liquidctl
Arctic Fan Controller (ACFAN00351A)
Arctic ACFAN00351A USB 10-channel fan controller. Uses the arctic_fan_controller kernel driver (Linux 7.2+) or direct USB HID via python-hid as fallback. VID:PID 0x3904:0xF001.
libhidapi-hidraw0
libhidapi-libusb0
python3-hid
PWM sysfs (Direct kernel control)
Direct control of PWM fan outputs via Linux kernel sysfs (/sys/class/hwmon/hwmonX/pwmY). No extra tool needed.
lm-sensors
Raspberry Pi PWM Fan (3-wire)
Raspberry Pi three-wire PWM fan: red to 5 V, black to GND, blue to a GPIO PWM signal. FleetPilot reads the kernel-managed pwm-gpio-fan cooling state; the Linux thermal driver provides the automatic fan curve.
